THE MIRACULOUS QURAN (PART 1 OF 11): MY PATH TO ISLAM

Re-blogged from website: https://www.islamreligion.com/articles/528/viewall/miraculous-quran/

Description: One of the leading Islamic personalities in America, Jamaal Zarabozo, discusses the miracle of the Quran, as how it played an influence in his journey to Islam.

THE MIRACULOUS QURAN (PART 1 OF 11):MY PATH TO ISLAM

Opening Statement

Let me state at the outset that, after being Muslim for many years now, if I were given the topic of “The Miraculous Quran,” as I see it now, I would be emphasizing and discussing aspects that were completely unknown to me at the time that I was studying Islam as a non-Muslim.  I have been studying the Quran for over thirty years now and it never fails to fascinate me.  In fact, the phenomenon of continually finding new fascinating aspects of the Quran has been true for the Muslim scholars throughout the years.  Over the centuries, as they have spoken about the Quran, later scholars recognize the miraculous aspects that the earlier scholars mentioned while coming across other aspects that they consider no less remarkable and amazing.  Thus, for example, in the past century, we have had Aishah bint al-Shaati, Sayyid Qutb and Mustafa Saadiq al-Raafi’ee all adding components to the overall theory of the miraculous nature of the Quran.[1]  Lately, many have emphasized what are called the “scientific miracles of the Quran,” a topic we shall try to visit toward the end of this lecture.

Things that bring about happiness

Things that bring about happiness

1. Good deeds:
" Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he [or
she] is a true believer [of Islamic Monotheism] verily, to him We will
give a good life [in this world with respect, contentment and lawful
provision]...} (Qur'an 16: 97)

2. A pious wife:
'Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will
be the comfort of our eyes... $ (Quran 25: 74)

3. A spacious house:
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him)
said: "O' Allah, make my house spacious for me."

4. Sustenance that is derived and earned through honest means:
The Messenger of Allah (bpuh) said:"Verily, Allah is Tayyib (good and pure), and He does
not accept other than what is good and pure."

5. Good manners and a spirit of fellowship with people:
'And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be... " (Quran 19: 31)

6. Being debt-free and not being a profligate spender:
"And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor
niggardly...^ (Quran 25: 67)

"And let not your hand be tied [like a miser] to your neck, nor stretch
it forth to its utmost reach [like a spendthrift]..^ (Qur'an 17: 29)

Living to Live

Living to Live: Its All About Process

I have recently been through a professionally challenging period in which my capacity has been stretched. As with anything that stretches and increases ones capacity, the gains are won through definite discomfort. Whilst feeling challenged I complained to my father, saying I wish I could fast forward this period; learn the lessons and increase my capacity, but skip the discomfort.  His response was forceful: “Don’t ever wish away your life!”
I am absolutely certain that anyone reading this article will be familiar with the feeling of suffering through some process in order to achieve some goal that is worth achieving. Whether it be painful workouts, reading through some textbook, or trudging through a very boring work day; suffering through an arduous process to enjoy the rewards is a very distinctive feature of most people’s everyday experience. This is in fact something some people view as a virtue, this ability to suffer through a painful process in order to enjoy the fruits that are eventually accrued through such endeavor.

The greatest lesson I never learned - Umair Haque

The greatest Lesson I never learned

I had many teachers, great and wise. Book by book, lesson by lesson, they taught me all I thought I needed to know. How to judge, what to understand, why to strive. Who to be, how to get, what to want.

I studied diligently, and grew. The lessons of my teachers saw me safely through storm and fury, heartbreak and triumph. I stood tall, strong, proud. A boy had become a man.

And yet. The more I knew, the less I understood. The more I had, the less I was. The more I won, the less I felt. And I did not know why.

The boy had become the man. But what was the meaning of the journey? What does it mean…to be here, alive, for a brief moment, underneath the endless stars?

The asshole factory - Umair Haque

The asshole factory

My good friend Mara has not one but two graduate degrees. From fine, storied universities. Surprise, surprise: the only “job” she was able to find was at a retail store.
Hey—it’s only minimum wage, but at least she’s working, right? And at a major-league, blue-chip company, An American icon; an institution; a name every man, woman, and child in this country knows; an historic company that rings of the American Dream the world over, besides. Surely, if nothing else, it’s a start.
Perhaps you’re right. Maybe it isn’t the start she always dreamed of…but at least it is one. If so…then awaits her at the finish?
