For obvious reasons, the rare and dangerous species have a greater attraction value, and this led to the introduction of lions, cheetah and later, the highly endangered Cape wild dog. The latter have formed part of a very successful breeding programme which has, in turn, led to breeding programmes for Bengal tigers, Siberian Tigers and the extremely rare White Lion (one of which was born at the reserve in 1999). These activities have seen the staff complement at the reserve grow from 5 to 39 people employed on a full time basis.

Just some garden birds shot the Canon 100D and 55-250mm EF-S lens. Considering the price of this lens, I am very impressed with the sharpness that it produces. Focus can be a little on the slow side but overall, it's a very good medium telephoto lens.

Golden Weaver bird. This industrious fellow has now built 6 nests in 2 trees in my garden in the hopes of attracting a female. A few females do come and inspect his work but they are extremely picky!

I have recently been through a professionally challenging period in which my capacity has been stretched. As with anything that stretches and increases ones capacity, the gains are won through definite discomfort. Whilst feeling challenged I complained to my father, saying I wish I could fast forward this period; learn the lessons and increase my capacity, but skip the discomfort. His response was forceful: “Don’t ever wish away your life!”

I am absolutely certain that anyone reading this article will be familiar with the feeling of suffering through some process in order to achieve some goal that is worth achieving. Whether it be painful workouts, reading through some textbook, or trudging through a very boring work day; suffering through an arduous process to enjoy the rewards is a very distinctive feature of most people’s everyday experience. This is in fact something some people view as a virtue, this ability to suffer through a painful process in order to enjoy the fruits that are eventually accrued through such endeavor.

I studied diligently, and grew. The lessons of my teachers saw me safely through storm and fury, heartbreak and triumph. I stood tall, strong, proud. A boy had become a man.

And yet. The more I knew, the less I understood. The more I had, the less I was. The more I won, the less I felt. And I did not know why.

The boy had become the man. But what was the meaning of the journey? What does it mean…to be here, alive, for a brief moment, underneath the endless stars?

My good friend Mara has not one but two graduate degrees. From fine, storied universities. Surprise, surprise: the only “job” she was able to find was at a retail store.

Hey—it’s only minimum wage, but at least she’s working, right? And at a major-league, blue-chip company, An American icon; an institution; a name every man, woman, and child in this country knows; an historic company that rings of the American Dream the world over, besides. Surely, if nothing else, it’s a start.

Perhaps you’re right. Maybe it isn’t the start she always dreamed of…but at least it is one. If so…then awaits her at the finish?

The Quran is truly an amazing book. If there is one investment I have made that I will never regret in my life, it is the time I invested in understanding the Quran. The thing about the Quran is that it speaks to me like no other book I’ve read. Such is the magnificence of the book that there is never a hollow reading session; each time I walk away with some truly amazing insights I overlooked before. What makes this possible is that there are, at least in my opinion, infinite layers to the Quran. The more time you spend with it, the more it seems to give you. And so, as I went deeper into the Quran, I was just mesmerized by its structure, cohesiveness, and the metaphors it employs that reflect my being so precisely.

Model car photography – El Camino and VW Beetle

Just some test shots of 2 model cars. El Camino and VW Beetle, all shot with the Canon EOS-M and 22mm and 18-55mm lenses. Just a basic one light setup on white foam board. This little camera is perfect for this type of work. Live view makes life a whole lot easier to frame the shot and set the exposure. Plus, it saves your back from a world of hurt because you dont have to squint into and bend over the eyepiece of a DSLR (I tried this sort of stuff using my Canon 7d, not a very pleasant experience!)

Take time out to think about some of the purest things you've seen – those perfect, little things that always seem to lift you up and bring a smile to your face. Things that we so often take for granted when consumed by our every day lives. I've compiled a list of some of the purest things that I've ever seen. They're simple, they happen every day, and they don't cost a thing. I thank Allah for allowing me to see them, and I'll forever strive for them to be a part of my life.

Theres just something about a man and his machine, applying a wax by hand to your paint, knowing every curve and line on your cars body, something only a true petrol head will be able to identify with or understand. Which brings me to a quick review on each of these amazing waxes. The Three Musketeers:

First up we have the ever popular No. 845 Insulator Wax. Its a heavy duty liquid wax that solidifies when temperatures are cooler. A good shake or placing it halfway into a bucket or basin of warm water for 5 minutes makes it liquid again. Its creamish in colour with a slight chemical scent, which I kinda like. Application is super easy and alittle goes a very long way. The shine it provides is very bright and glossy and I have gotten 4-5 months out of it before beading turned to sheeting. It was originally designed for electrical insulators, to protect them from fire, marine application(boats needing protection from sea salt), and ofcourse aircrafts like Boeings etc, so protecting your automotive paint should be a breeze :grin:

It works brilliant on protecting mag wheels, lights and exhaust tailpieces as its designed for high temperature applications. This is the detailing worlds bargain! Read here:

Next up we have Collinite Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax No. 476 . This is nicknamed the Permanent Auto Wax and is Detergent Proof. This wax outlasts any paste wax and sealant on the market-FACT. This product contains alittle more carnauba than 845 above as well as more synthetic polymers resulting isn a more serious wax that gives alittle more shine and twice the durability. It is a hard creamy paste wax with a slight chemical and coconut smell. Application is alittle harder than the other Collinites as expected from this almost bullet proof product. Use a damp applicator and apply thin, you should be okay.My can looked untouched after an antire SUV.

And finally the best for last, my favourite paste wax not just Collinite wax... No. 915 Marque D'Elegance . The name says it all...This is a top of the shelf product, Collinites beauty queen. It is almost as durable as 476 but with a wetness and depth that only a show car wax can produce. It has an almond, coconut scent and is proper top grade white carnauba refined from yellow grade. This wax has competed against waxes costing thousands of $ and come out on top as tested by Detailing World and many show car owners and professional detailers alike. My car washes easier, bird crap cannot penetrate my paint, this wax hates water and is hydrophobic, so water beads away in an amazing fashion. Best part is it shines 6 months later just like the day you applied it. This is the only show car wax in the world with durability and a detailing treasure! Most carnaubas will be dead in 2-3 weeks, some 2-3 months, 915 has been pushed 10 months! It contains more carnauba than 845 and 476 and it shows.

Collinite waxes are pure waxes with no cleaners and they design, manufacture, package their own. This is proper top shelf stuff and not relabled, rebottled waxes of cheaper companies sold at higher prices. Collinites are thoroughbreds. The metal cans are as a result of these waxes being hand poured at extremely high temperatures and cooled for many many hours in a controlled environment and sealed to keep fresh and away from contamination. They spend their money on product, not girly packaging and over the top marketing. Most products now days are 90% hype, 10% delivery. Collinite is 90% delivery and 10% hype.

Best part is all 3 can be had for under R1000 which is a lifetime supply worth! All three will give you the wetness, depth, warmth, slickness you are looking for with unmatched protection and durability. Have to give credit where its due and yet there are not enough words or adjectives to fully give credit to a timeless classic. :hurray:
